ZIMBABWE HONEYMOON SAFARIS

This small, landlocked country boasts a wide and diverse variety of wildlife, places of incredible beauty and fascinating, cultural attractions.

The awe-inspiring Victoria Falls, the sparkling Lake Kariba, the ethereal Great Zimbabwe Ruins and the mighty Zambezi River are a few of the most spectacular honeymoon attractions this incredible country has to offer.

Victoria Falls
The Victoria Falls is the largest, probably the most beautiful and certainly the most majestic waterfall in the world. Created by volcanic activity, erosion and the course of the Zambezi River, these spectacular Falls have captured the hearts, minds and spirits of people everywhere. It was David Livingstone who named Victoria Falls after his Queen and stated in his now famous diary entry - “On sights as beautiful as this, Angels in their flight must have gazed”.
Lake Kariba
It took four years of incredible engineering to block the mouth of a narrow gorge in order to flood the Gwembe Trough and form the great Lake Kariba – a place of outstanding beauty and tranquillity. Experience a golden Kariba sunset, with the backdrop of rugged mountains and clear African skies - pure heaven! A trip on a house boat is one of the many highlights for visitors to the Lake.
Great Zimbabwe Ruins
One of Africa’s most complex and well-preserved archaeological sites, the Great Zimbabwe Ruins are steeped in legend and tradition. The ruins are all that are left of a royal stronghold built by the ancestors of the Shona, the Karanga. Dating to between AD 1 200 and 1 450, it is here that the large soapstone carvings, “the Zimbabwe birds” – a symbol of the Zimbabwean culture - were discovered. Like the mystery of Stonehenge, how these tall towers of granite rocks balance with no mortar, is baffling.
Hwange National Park
Hwange is the largest and probably the most popular national park in the country. With a land area of more than 14 000 square kilometres , the park boasts over a hundred species of animals and over 400 species of birds. Hwange is also one of the few great elephant sanctuaries left in Africa. To protect the wildlife, only a relatively small area of Hwange is accessible to the visitor.
